Why Choose Holistic Healthcare?

What is Holistic Healthcare? How does it differ from Western Medicine? Why is it important for you to use a Holistic Healthcare practitioner?

Holistic medicine is becoming more and more popular as people are searching for true healing as opposed to symptom relief. Although it is gaining popularity, many continue to view it as “hippie medicine” or “voodoo magic”. Even some of our own patients have voiced, “I don’t know what you do, but I know it works!”

Holistic medicine definition

WebMD actually provides a pretty good description. Web MD Holistic Medicine

“Holistic medicine is a form of healing that considers the whole person – body, mind, spirit, and emotions – in the quest for optimal health and wellness. According to the holistic medicine philosophy, you can achieve the best possible health by gaining proper balance in life.

Holistic medicine practitioners believe that the whole person is made up of parts that depend on one another, and if one part isn't working properly, all the other parts will be affected. So if you have imbalances (physical, emotional, or spiritual) in your life, it can harm your overall health.”

What does that mean?

Let’s break this description down. “...form of healing that considers the whole person - body, mind, spirit, and emotions…” We are multidimensional beings and our wellness path needs to respect each dimension equally as none are individually more important than the next. This also means that our health is determined by what we eat, what we think, what we believe, and how we feel about ourselves and our lives.

The Body

BodyMindSpiritEmotion. The Body represents our physical biochemical being. This is the level where our symptoms are expressed. We view this as our most superficial level. When we look at our patients, this is our last area of focus. Patients are sometimes confused when they come in with a heart issue and yet we begin our treatment focusing on their small intestine. Let me paint a picture for you. Looking at your body as a section of river that is polluted, we could spend all day every day cleaning the water and soil, rebuilding the ecosystem, and it would make a difference…for a short amount of time. If we don’t search beyond that section of the river, look into what’s upstream, and discover the factory creating the pollutants, we will never be able to truly clean and restore the river to its original beautiful state. We will always be battling against the origin of the problem.

To refer back to the heart issue patient, we may start with their small intestine because the heart and small intestine share the same energetic meridian. If the small intestine is using too much energy to function and not leaving enough for the heart, then we could spend all day long trying to work on the heart but the organ simply wouldn’t have enough energy to resolve the issue without balancing the small intestine first.

Western medicine approach

In contrast, Western Medicine analyzes the physical body using tools such as blood work, MRI’s, CT Scans, etc. These are great tools, but unfortunately they don’t paint the whole picture. You could have your blood drawn, then upon leaving the office receive news that your significant other was in a car accident. If you were to redraw your blood at that point, the blood chemistry would differ significantly from the original sample. These methods only give you a single snapshot of your body at that exact moment. One of my mentor’s Dr. Lee Wolley, creator of the SpectraVision, gave me a great analogy:

“If you were to take a video cassette of a wedding to a chemist and ask them: What is on this cassette? They would have to melt it down, and isolate what it is made of. They would say: plastic, metal filings, film/tape, springs, and screws. That is what a chemist does/looks at; the various chemicals and molecules that make up the whole video cassette. They could tell you a lot about the tape, but they would TOTALLY MISS THE WEDDING VIDEO CONTENT because they looked at it incorrectly!”

So, our goal is to view the “wedding video content” that your body has recorded. We want to understand the full complete picture because we want to pull out the root system of your problem instead of continuously cutting off the top of the weed. To access this type of information, we delve beyond your physical Body and allow your Spirit to tell us the whole story.

The Spirit

We consider the Spirit to consist of your psyche/subconscious. The Spirit is your true self. It is what every thought, action, and decision you make stems from and is measured against. The subconscious is like a tape deck that has been recording your entire life. The psyche takes that tape deck and based on the experiences recorded, it determines how you react to different situations, emotions, or any other stimulus. The actions of our psyche have the largest single influence on our overall long term health. This is where our Emotions come into play. Let’s again use a story to explain how emotions can influence our biology.

Our Emotions

You are sixteen years old and at this point in your life you obviously know everything there is to know about everything. The person you are dating is no doubt the love of your life and you are going to marry them and ride off into the sunset happily ever after (I hope you sense my sarcasm). At this point, a complete surprise to you, the love of your life breaks up with you. HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN! Your life is turned upside down and you simply can’t go on. Life has become black and white…food no longer has taste…you have even lost interest in your Instagram/TikToc accounts! Now, this is where your Spirit (psyche) comes into play. Because this tragic event is more than your conscious mind can handle, your psyche takes this event and the Emotion(s) associated and begins the process of hiding it away. It will bury this negative event/energy somewhere in the body so that its emotional effects become less and less as the days go by. Keep in mind, this does not resolve, forgive, or allow you to heal, it simply buries with the hope that you will eventually be able to look back on the event and truly come to terms with what happened. This is a very simplistic view of the thought process of Germanic Healing Knowledge (GHK). According to Germanic Healing Knowledge (GHK), this stuffing of emotional events is the origin of 80% of our symptoms.

The Mind

At this point, we have established that our physical Body is just the tip of the iceberg, and our Spirit is the biggest contributor to our deep level health due to its interactions with and handling of our Emotions. So where does our Mind come into play? I’ve always been a big football guy so let’s use a sports analogy here. You can fill a team with all star players, but if they don’t have a playbook it’s impossible for them to work together on the field. In this analogy the players are different elements of our physiology and our Mind is the playbook. What we think, our body will believe and follow. I commonly ask new patients with a chronic illness what they are going to do once they heal. If they can’t answer that question, that tells me that their body has no path to guide it back to health. It has no playbook. It is being told that this current state of health is its new norm.

So many incredibly intelligent people have emphasized the importance that our thoughts have on our physiology.

“We can’t solve today’s problems with the mentality that created them.”

-Albert Einstein

“What we think, we become.”

-Buddha

“A man is but the product of his thoughts, what he thinks he becomes.”

-Mahatma Ghandi

“I have chosen to be happy because it is good for my health.”

-Voltaire

I consider myself a decently smart individual, but I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that a few of those listed above have a couple more IQ points than me. If these people placed so much emphasis on what we think, I think it’s time that we rethink what we are thinking!

How do we heal?

So now that we have all this knowledge of how the Spirit, Mind, and Emotions affect the Body, how do we find these issues in our body and more importantly how do we fix it? I’m so glad you asked!

At Norris Healthcare, our approach to Holistic Medicine is quite different from what you will experience elsewhere. Its origin was influenced by leaders in healthcare from around the world. Through 46 years of clinical experience, we took what these leaders created, blended them together, and combined them with cutting edge technology to create a holistic approach that we feel is the most effective healing platform available.

The basis of how we gather information from the body stems from Dr. Norris’s specialty in Applied Kinesiology (muscle testing) along with results from the SpectraVision technology. Using these methods, we scrutinize every dimension of the body. We can analyze and treat acute problems, heal the deeper levels of the body to alleviate chronic conditions, and read and correct energy flow to organs and glands to prevent future issues.

Methods of healing

To balance the body we will use any number of the healing methods listed below:

  • CHIROPRACTIC CARE - Balance the nerve system which is a necessary first step in healing any area of the body.

  • SUPPLEMENTS - Homeopathics and specialized herbal combinations to open healing channels, detoxify, strengthen and support healing on all levels.

  • BIOMAGNETIC PAIR THERAPY - Harmonize the body pH to allow deeper level healing.

  • NEURO-EMOTIONAL RELEASE TECHNIQUE (NET) - Releases emotions that have not been properly processed and are emotionally “stuck” in the body-mind and can affect, delay or be the cause of physical or emotional pain.

  • NAMBUDRIPAD ALLERGY ELIMINATION TECHNIQUE (NAET) - Non-invasive, drug free natural solution to help eliminate sensitivities to environmental chemicals and stressors. Pollens, and foods using a blend of techniques from Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Energy healing and nutrition.

  • NUTRITIONAL RESPONSE TESTING (NRT) - This is a noninvasive way to test your body for deficiencies, excesses, toxic load and Sensitivities as well as determine what substances work best for your own body needs. This is accomplished using variations in Applied Kinesiology.

  • KOREN SPECIFIC TECHNIQUE (KST) - Aunique approach to Chiropractic using an “Arthrostim” instrument which introduces energy/force/information into specific parts of the body at a speed of 12 taps per second. This harmonizes the bone-joint-nerve connection and allows a gentle realignment of any and all joints stimulated.

This approach to Chiropractic care was developed by Dr Tedd Koren after finding success with this approach while treating a very chronic and difficult situation of his own. The foundation is an ability to analyze the body, determine the level and area of problem and effectively treat the area with minimal to no pain or discomfort. It continues to evolve with greater and greater success as a detailed and comprehensive evaluation and treatment of the body. With a combination of manual adjusting, manual pressure and Arthrostim rebalancing, it can approach anyone with any level of physical impairment.

  • LOW LASER LIGHT THERAPY (LLLT) - This is a non-invasive technology to stimulate cells to heal, regenerate, increase detoxification and harmonize the meridian energy flow. Typical therapy consists of the red low-level therapy but also includes green and other colors for varying effects on different tissues.

Our Wellness Program

Our Wellness Program is designed to heal your complete being, not just focus on your physical symptoms. We will assist the body with emotional conflict resolution (learn more about GHK), correct ATP production by enhancing mitochondrial function, balance the autonomic nervous system, pacify microbial disturbances, harmonize energetic meridians, detoxify the body through lymphatic and detoxification pathway support, and much more. Our main interest is not only correcting the reasons for your current symptoms, but helping you raise your body to its highest functioning state so you can handle the future stressors that life inevitably brings symptom free!
